Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable NavCom Service Engineer to install, commission, service, and troubleshoot marine navigation and communication systems onboard vessels. The role involves providing onboard technical support, ensuring regulatory compliance, and responding to both planned service activities and emergency breakdowns at local and regional ports.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot marine navigation and communication equipment, including Radar, ECDIS, Gyro Compass, AIS, VDR, and GMDSS.
- Provide onboard technical support to vessels at local and regional ports as per operational requirements.
- Perform inspections, testing, calibration, and fault diagnosis of navigation and communication systems.
- Ensure all equipment operates in compliance with IMO, SOLAS, Class, and Flag State regulations.
- Coordinate with ship staff, port authorities, and internal office teams to execute service activities efficiently.
- Prepare detailed service reports, test records, and job completion documentation.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and support time-critical service calls when required.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Proven hands-on experience with marine navigation and communication systems.
- Strong understanding of shipboard safety practices and operational procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service documentation.
- Willingness to travel and work onboard vessels as required.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and coordination skills for working with ship crews and shore teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and perform under pressure.
- Familiarity with international maritime regulations and industry standards.
