Job Summary
The Senior Commercial Officer (Projects) will oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of ongoing projects, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, budgetary controls, and project objectives. The role involves managing contracts, evaluating vendor performance, controlling project costs, and supporting commercial strategy throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all commercial, contractual, and procurement functions related to project execution.
- Prepare, review, and administer project contracts, including variations, claims, and amendments.
- Evaluate tenders, bids, and subcontractor proposals to ensure alignment with technical and commercial requirements.
- Support project managers and engineering teams in developing cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.
- Track project expenditures, identify cost variances, and provide regular financial and commercial reports.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure favorable outcomes.
- Coordinate with legal, finance, and procurement teams to ensure contractual compliance and risk mitigation.
- Conduct commercial risk assessments and provide recommendations for cost optimization
- Maintain detailed project documentation for audits, reporting, and final account settlemen
- Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes, templates, and cost control mechanisms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in commercial and contractual management within project-based industries.
- Strong understanding of project contracts (FIDIC or equivalent), procurement, and cost control principles.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / MS Dynamics preferred).
- Ability to interpret complex contractual clauses and support project teams with commercial advice.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
