Job Summary

The Structural Work Preparator is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and organizing all necessary documentation, materials, and technical drawings for structural works in construction or fabrication projects. This role ensures that all preparations are complete and aligned with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements, to facilitate smooth execution by the site teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze structural drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Prepare detailed work packages for structural activities including bill of materials (BOM), work instructions, and method statements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and site teams to ensure all required resources are available for execution.
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
  • Monitor and update the status of work preparation activities using project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards in all preparatory documentation.
  • Support construction teams by providing technical clarifications and revisions as required.
  • Participate in planning meetings and provide input on structural work timelines and requirements
  • Liaise with subcontractors or vendors for structural elements or prefabricated items.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum [3–5] years of experience in structural work preparation in a construction, oil & gas, or fabrication environment.
  • Strong knowledge of structural systems, steel structures, and fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Tekla, or similar design/drafting tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project planning and documentation tools (e.g., MS Excel, MS Project, Primavera).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with international standards such as ASTM, AISC, or Eurocodes.
  • Previous experience in offshore, shipyard, or industrial plant projects.
